DONT BELONG TO NO CITY DON'T BELONG TO NO MAN Much of the free time Rio had was absorbed recently. Being the leader of a rebel group wasn’t as easy as the history books made it seem, no. The pressure was on from Stelisius, them and the Insurgency playing a game of Cat and Mouse for the past few weeks. Aldenberg’s moves and every action were watched closely, and it was all too quiet on the government front. Too quiet for Rio to be comfortable with… They were plotting something, Rio was positive of it, and it kept her up at night just thinking about it.
She needed a break, to get out and somewhere, anything to keep her out from being holed in the Insurgency base all day as she had been for previous weeks. Being below ground for too long was just depressing, in all honesty. Even amongst the seasoned older members, she was never equal, always Miss Rio or ma’am. She didn’t have a problem with the respect, but just blending in was better than anything. She held a high amount of care and respect for her comrades, but a fresh face was never unwelcome. Well, fresh face in terms of friends, seeing as there were new recruits coming in with every passing day. Turnout was high, higher than anticipated. It was both a blessing and a curse. Every new face was one Rio knew she couldn’t protect forever… They had signed up on their own accord, but hearing the lives of her rebels that were lost was like a pang in the chest. If there was someone in the world who could be praised, yet hated so much at the same time, it was Rio. The raiser of a hellbound rebellion for some, a glistening beam of light amongst the darkness for others. She wasn’t a hero, not by any standard.
Rio had set her sights on Taurus. There was too much suspicion in Aries for her to be able to walk around there safely, without the fear of recognition or capture. It was her home realm, they weren’t unjust in believing she was there, but it was better to play it safe than sorry. The woman slid over her leather jacket, pushing it over her grey undershirt, stained with the sweat of a recent training. Her golden blonde locks were pulled back into a low ponytail, curling to the side of her tan face. With that, she began to scale her way out, pushing out to the surface, into a deserted alleyway. Taurus and the rest of the lower realms weren’t noted as the safest of the realms, poverty and crime were rampant. That wasn’t about to deter her, she was tough, and looked such anyways. Not many people in their right minds would mess with her, unless they were rather fond of the taste of knuckles and their own blood.
You were crazy or a thug to be walking the streets of the inner Taurus city in the night, and yet that was what Rio was doing. She wasn’t unarmed, with her switchblade within an arms reach. Rio cast a glance over the surrounding area, stopping silently, noticing she wasn’t alone in her presence, someone else unsettling was amongst her. Sebastian Thorne

[googlefont=Raleway] [attr="class","riseandfall"]✦SMOKE & MIRRORS [attr="class","riseandfall2] “Another day, another dollar,” Sebastian muttered smugly, fingering the folded bills in his pockets. His lips donned a sly smirk, his mind still replaying snippets of the activity he’d partaken in minutes before. It wasn’t Sebastian’s typical place to fulfil the demands of his patrons. No, he’d customarily be the one to assign his workers to do the task and collect the paychecks in the end. But that night’s beckons required Sebastian himself to execute it since the client that sent the summons was one that Sebastian held in high regards. She was one of distinct beauty with a smile that made his head reel and his eyes dilate. Undeniably Sebastian knew that, if he had let himself, the client would’ve apprehended his heart from the beginning. The young Taurus shook his head at the possibility. Who was he to fall in love? With his hair still disheveled, Seb made his way through the streets of Taurus. His favorite ebony overcoat was slung of his shoulder, allowing the cold breezes of Taurus to pleasantly envelope his warm skin. He wasn’t exactly sure where he was going, not that it worried him. Sebastian had many nights like these before that also began with him just mindlessly wandering the streets with his desire fulfilled and his pockets full of money. Some nights he’d find himself at a local bar, his money spent on reckless gambling and alcohol that scorched his throat. There were other times when he’d wake the morning after in a damsel’s warm bed with no recollection of the events of the night before. There were even a few times when Sebastian wasted the darkness fleeing from the unrelenting authorities of The Taurus. Those were the nights that ignited a flame in his dormant heart. Sebastian Thorne had spent all his childhood with Stelisius’ rules embedded in his skin. Now he’d devoted the rest of his life to breaking them. The young Taurus found himself humming a native tune as he sauntered down the boulevard. It was one of those nights, nights when Sebastian allowed himself to completely disregard the constabularies breathing down his neck and the threats of having an illegal brothel under his name. His tune concluded once his gaze settled on a woman strolling a few strides ahead. Although Sebastian could only see the woman’s (wonderful) rear, the young Taurus could immediately tell that the stranger was no native. Despite the rough nightlife conditions of The Taurus, the woman carried herself with a rightful posture that wasn’t common amongst natives. His people always carried themselves as if they held the weight of the world against their shoulders. She strolled with strides like a queen’s. Sebastian found himself mimicking her footsteps. It wasn’t long until the girl’s strides halted, and he was gifted with the initial reveal of the stranger’s face as she peered suspiciously at her surroundings. Thankfully, Sebastian was hidden under the glooms of a dilapidated building. “There are many dangers lurking in every shadow, especially for a lady like you,” Sebastian drawled. The boy allowed himself to take a few steps towards her direction. “If you’re looking to sight-see at this time of night, allow me to inform you that your luck has run dry.” Sebastian was convinced that this woman originated from the upper quadrumvirates, and suddenly he made it his undertaking to be the one to warm her bed that night. DONT BELONG TO NO CITY DON'T BELONG TO NO MAN “Yeah, one of them being a creepy fucker like you”, Rio jeered, keeping her sharp and hostile eyes on this man. Although he was certainly startling, there was an attractiveness about him. Was he a Sagittarius? Those ones were usually the notorious romantics… No, that didn’t fit. Was he from around here? She wouldn’t have been surprised, he wasn’t exactly the cleanest looking character, from a moral standpoint. Anyone who approached a woman on the streets of Taurus past sundown wasn’t exactly the kind of person you’d let into your home without at least some questioning. If we planned on keeping both of his arms intact, keeping far away would be a benefit.
“I hate to burst your bubble, but I’m not some weird concrete fetishist, and so far I haven’t seen anything photo worthy”, Rio added, sarcastically, rolling her eyes in the most standard and blunt way for such a gesture to be presented. Honestly, something about this man screamed massive douchebag, but at the same time… Yum. RIo shook her head slightly at her own thoughts, ugh. She was tired, sleep was needed. Perhaps she shouldn’t have had that can of energy drink… How else was she supposed to get through her job? She was on high alert constantly. The government was unpredictable, and Aldenberg could always strike in the middle of the night provided they found the Insurgency base.
“I don’t know whether you’ve got balls, or you’re just another stupid asshat who think he has a chance of getting within arm's distance of me”, Rio sneered, because she had most certainly noticed the glance he had taken at her ass. “I’m more than capable of defending myself, so take your self-righteous bullshit back to the playpen”, she added, turning her body to face his person. Rotating her wrist, the form of her silver switchblade were fully visible. Between her regal and imposing posture and stature, Rio in appearance alone was enough to make a small child cry. Well, maybe not an Aries or Taurus kid, no. She had grown up with a family in Aries, they were a tougher bunch, just as intimidating and strong as they came off as. Roughhouse was regular, and Rio herself had a few scars, like the long one down the front of her leg, from when a jagged rock had slipped and snagged her caramel brown skin on its way. Nothing like the good old Aries way of losing teeth, having them punched out by your opponent rather than them falling out naturally, not that there was much to life that was not synthetic.
