♔ To say that Aurora Aldenberg was busy would have been a complete understatement. She had been swamped with the pressure of her work, even more after the emergence of the Insurgency and the assassination of her mother, Elise Aldenberg.
She’d already had more than enough coffee to be considered safe to drink another without running the risk of a heart attack. Security was tight around her, and she had to pull rank once more to just be allowed to take a visit to the park without the presence of a bodyguard. Not that it was even slightly inconspicuous… Nothing screamed ‘it’s an Aldenberg’, like a mini squad of hired bodyguards by her side. Aurora raised her head, eyes taking a glance from beneath the dark thick-rimmed sunglasses over her face, taking a glance around promptly to survey for the sight of anyone else, who may have been camouflaged in the canvas of twilight.
Aurora set her sunglasses down, the only thing to be heard was the clatter of their frame against the wooden bench. It was chilly, but not cold enough to warrant snow, which never fell before November, even with the frigid climates of the realm of Capricorn. For snow to fall early would be an outlier of meteorological events, something praised by children yet seen always as a nuisance by adults. Aurora found her love of snow she had as a child to fade with each passing year, seeing it as nothing more than a mere barricade from society, something that stopped the bullet trains from getting from one destination to another, something to put a halt on progress. The insurgency was like a snowstorm, each time it struck you would always need to take a scoop from its hearth with a shovel and leave it to melt on the concrete pavement, to clear the road from any more disturbances. An efficient way of thinking, was it not?
The Capricornian girl brushed a strand of white hair from her face, which was slightly red at the cheeks from the bite of the cold against her pale flesh. A cup of warm coffee would have done her well, or even a pair of gloves. Aurora’s attire was suited towards the weather, albeit she hadn’t worn gloves, instead tucking her curled hands in on the fabric of her sweater. She was wearing a long grey sweater, which fit snug around her body and warmed her considerably. Hmm… Perhaps later tonight she would curl up by the fireplace downstairs, and work somewhere more comfortable than her desk. That was, if she didn’t fall asleep here in the cold underneath the blanket of iridescent stars glimmering above her in the beautiful crepuscular scenery.

♥ SUGAR AND SPICE♥Believe it or not, Alyssa had not left her warm womb of blankets for the entire last week. With the exception of her sister visiting, which she had sat on a chair for. But even that felt like she was forcefully being ripped out of a loving mother’s arms during a world war. Not that she had a mother, or could be forcefully ripped out of said mother’s arms. In other words, she had a bloody bad cold. But Aldenburgs don’t get sick, especially during the midst of a rebellion against the government. So hell yeah, she didn’t take days off. Fuck the insurgence.
The girl had been binge eating popcorn chips, drinking Earl Grey, and filling out paperwork, all at the comfort of her home. She would’ve went to the office, but it’s not that fun when you faint at the steps of your apartment. Okay, maybe it was more than a cold. But she had to admit it was pretty comfortable attending a press conference through phone in your underwear. So what convinced her to get her ass outside, and actually exercise? The world may never know.
Alyssa slapped on combat boots, a pale pink coat, and a white hat to cover her messy white hair. She didn’t even bother putting on makeup, it was too cold for that shit. Everything would probably be ruined after a few sneezes, anyways. The girl also took a thermos of tea with her, mostly to warm her hands. She dragged herself out the door, grabbing her pastel blue parasol on her way out, in case of snow. It’d probably never snow, at this temperature, but who said miracles didn’t happen?
Maybe God would take pity on her, and send her another miracle. To get these idiot guards away from her. Two men in black suits and plain expressions. She could probably outrun them, or punch one of them in the face, and dash away, but sickness changes you, and makes you lazy as fuck. As she strolled down the street, her parasol slashed back across her shoulder, walking down the beautiful scenery of her hometown. It seemed quieter, more dormant, at this time. She exhaled a puff of white air, rubbing her eyes. It was harder to enjoy this trip with men trailing her at every second.
She was going to trail back when she noticed a figure up ahead, with hair so white it could only be another Aldenburg. It was like a tracking device, it stood out like a glow-stick in a pitch black room. Great for fluorescent parties, terrible for camouflage. Alyssa made her way over to her sister, waving slightly. A smile tug on her mouth, stretching her rosy cheeks, as she sat down beside Aurora.
